It's hard to be a Jew in Belgium. Not only has the community been subject to a spate of anti-Semitic attacks, but a Belgian law indicting anybody accused of 'war crimes' anywhere in the world has been invoked against Ariel Sharon and other Israeli figures. Seven out of ten Belgian births are to Muslims, and Abu Jahjah and his European Arab League want a virtual state-within-a-state.
In his foreword, senator Philippe Bonfils points out that Israel has no communication policy, while the Palestinian propaganda machine has been alarmingly effective in its vilification and delegitimisation of Zionism.
Author Moïse Rahmani, founder of the Institut Sépharade Européen in Brussels (www.sefarad.org) has been energetically trying to redress the balance. Using the conceit of an Israeli girl's Email replies to her mildly self-hating Belgian father, Moise Rahmani mounts a spirited defence in Noa's name. The book is an essentially compilation of anti-disinformation material from Rahmani's BELSEF site. Noa's sturdy arguments are bolstered by useful polls and statistics and illustrated with chilling "Death to the Jews" graffiti.
